Early years and where you came from?

I was born in a small village. I came to Lisbon to study marketing management and stayed: in the city of Lisbon, in the academic life that I regularly review, and in the world of technologies that I crossed paths with.

How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?

6 years ago I was challenged to work in Novabase marketing. Since then, I have never left the world of technology.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.

At the moment I’m the Marketing Coordinator at Link Group.

What part of what you do, you love the most?

I’m a tech woman! I like technology, gadgets, everything that makes life easier for us and has the potential to make our world a better place with fewer inequalities. Creating new offers, talking to clients and understanding their pain, being involved with the project teams are the engines of my motivation.

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?

The fact that my academic background is not in any technological area makes me an asset: I can translate the technological complexity of our solutions into business language.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?

Linking this area is essential. For starters, an internship in an IT company is always a good idea to start.
In addition, it is essential to keep up to date, researching information, listening to lectures, talking to peers.

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.

I don’t have 2 days alike. Marketing in an IT company is the main engine to innovate in terms of offering, communication, and the relationship with all stakeholders. I spend a lot of time working on the offers together with the development and sales teams.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“More than ‘say yes’, you need to learn ‘say no’.”

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Office, Google, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, Feedly, LinkedIn, etc, etc!
