Early years and where you came from?

I was 21 years old when I started working. My first work was in a training center for Cisco and Microsoft certifications, I worked there for 2 years. After that, I entered the banking industry as a Relationship Manager for corporate and private customers. In 2007, I started at Banco Espirito Santo, passing to Novo Banco in 2014 and from 2017 to 2019 at Best Bank. So, I worked for 12 years in the Banking Industry. In March of 2019, I joined Bring Global as a Business Analyst, I currently working on the development of an Omni Channel solution for international and national Financial Institutions, in an Agile Scrum environment.

How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?

With the invitation to join Bring Global.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.

With several scrum teams, my role is:
- helping customers to define the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and the scope during all project phases, i.e. Intake, Inception, Construction, Transition, and Release;
- advising customers on the standards and best practices of the banking (retail, corporate, wealth, mobile, trade finance) and insurance business;
- lead refinement sessions to gather requirements that form the basis to write down the user stories;
- work closely with the UX/UI team in order to define the best user experience;
- presenting new functionalities on web and mobile environments to all stakeholders (sprint review);
- helping the development, quality assurance, and UX/UI teams (on-shore and off-shore) to understand their assigned tasks;
- minimize the teams’ impediments, dependencies, and delays;
- defining Acceptance Criteria and validate functionality.

What part of what you do, you love the most?

Create innovative and user-centered solutions for users of banking apps, together with the development team and UX/UI team.

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?

I know the pain points and needs of the users, so I can anticipate what they would like to see and have on a banking app. This has a good impact on the features we develop and is a really great advantage for the team.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?

I would say to look into the Academia de Codigo bootcamps.

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.

My work is always talking to people, the customer (people from banks), and the developers and UX/UI. Explain features, planning new features. Being the bridge between the customer needs and what the product provides and wants can be developed to deliver the highest value to the customer.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Do not assume anything, question everything!

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Slack, Jira, Confluence, Miro, Funretro, MS Teams, Kahoot

Anything else you would like to share?

Girls can go everywhere and do everything!
