Micaela Vieira Neto, Creative Print Manager
Early years and where you came from?
I studied Graphic Design in ESAD CR and come to Lisbon in 2008 to work in Brand Design.
How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?
After 8 years working in one of the best brand agencies, the former Talkdesk Creative Director asked me if I want it to try a different challenge and work for Talkdesk.
Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.
My current role is to manage the Creative Print Team, we are responsible for the Talkdesk Brand and create all kinds of assets related to print media. This includes all the branding and events, external and internal communication materials, illustrations, editorial material for the US and EMEA.
What part of what you do, you love the most?
To work with my team and across all the other creative areas to evolve and elevate the Talkdesk Brand.
How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?
I came from a brand agency background and that makes me a very methodic person, I worked for small and big brands projects and that gave me the overview from beginning to the end of how to do things. This perspective was very important to implement in the startup environment. The Creative Team had grown so much, we were only 8 and now we are 25.
What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?
Find one company that you can relate to, share the same culture and you’re passionate about.
Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.
Get up at 7.30 am, dress my kid, eat breakfast and go to the office or stay remote. The first thing I do is check my emails and all the new tasks in Jira to manage any roadblock that appears. Usually, each day is different we have different meetings each day of the week. Syncing with the team is on a daily basis to check if every project is going well. At the end of the day I pick my kid at the daycare and go home.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be always open to listen to what the others have to tell you.
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
Slack and Jira.
Links that you want to share? In what are you working on…
