Early years and where you came from?

My background is in pharmaceutical sciences but when I finished my master, I decided to start a career in the corporate world as a consultant because I was still figuring out what I wanted to do and what I was good at.

How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?

Well, I started working as a consultant for a healthcare company and as I was always passionate and fascinated about technology, future innovations and the digital world, it was a natural process.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.

After working as a consultant, I start a process of reskilling and upskilling and became a project manager but the product mindset was always calling. So, moved to a fintech company where I started to work as a product analyst and it took me where I am today, a product manager.

What part of what you do, you love the most?

Teamwork and collaboration is the thing I love about this job, and without them, I would not succeed for sure! Also love that everything changes so fast and you have to adapt and reinvent, that motivates me a lot.

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?

Well, with the experience I had on different teams and companies, I could learn a lot and see things from different perspectives I try to apply that every day.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?

Don’t give up, know what you want to do and try to work on a reskilling program so you can get what you need. There are a lot of different roles within a tech company, if you don’t want to code, you can do anything else! Be persistent and ask for help if you need it! look at me, I’m a pharmacist working on tech.

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.

I don’t have a particular routine, sometimes work from home or a coffee shop and sometimes, go to the office on Oporto. every day is different and challenging but as a product manager, my job is to know customers and business needs and pain points, identify problems and opportunities, prioritize them, and convert them into requirements so that engineering teams can work on them. To do all these, I have lots of meeting with stakeholders, engendering teams and other teams like product analytics. I try to have at least 2 hours for myself so that I can organize and consolidate my ideas.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

A no is always guaranteed, so at least try! And this is so true.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

On work, slack, calendar, and Trello. Personally, I don’t live without revolut, uber eats and Spotify 😂

Any links that you want to share? In what are you working on…

Currently, I have a lot of projects I’m working on as a Product Manager at Farfetch. The company is growing a lot, and is fascinating to be part of that.

Anythis else you would like to share?

I love my job, of course, but that does not define me. So besides being a Product manager, I love to paint, and I surf in my free time.
