Early years and where you came from?

I was born in Lisbon and I am what we call an “alfacinha de gema”, meaning that all my family is also from Lisbon — city center.

How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?

When I start working in the recruitment field, back in 2009 in agencies I start having some customers here and there that we're looking for tech professionals. This demand quickly starts to increase until I decided to make a move in 2014 to an IT Staffing Company in order to be fully dedicated to the Tech World.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.

Currently, I lead all the recruitment department of Pipedrive around the world. My biggest responsibility is to remove all the roadblocks that my team may experience while doing their job and also to think about our Talent Acquisition strategy for all the locations where we have offices.

What part of what you do, you love the most?

I love having the opportunity of scaling the company at a very fast pace, while thinking about strategies to never lose the human touch, maintain a great culture and improve candidate experience. I also love being very hands-on and to mentor my team, seeing people grow both as personally as professionally really makes me happy.

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?

I believe it has everything to do with my critical judgment, having the mind frame of question things and always think in ways of improving what we are doing.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?

First of all, discover what is your true passion.

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.

My routine is pretty much around slack, being in contact with all of our teams and departments across the globe. Being available for my team and to whatever they need. I also spend some time doing recruitment myself, especially for Senior Leadership and C-Level roles.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Always help people, even if you will not receive anything in exchange.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Slack, Whats app, The Pattern (strongly advice you do to yours), Instagram
